Nair Community & Nairs in Karnataka

There is hardly any authentic information to show when Nairs of Kerala first moved to and settled down in Karnataka. It is believed that the first migration of Nairs in Karnataka started when Shankaracharya was escorted towards his journey to north, by a Raja of Kerala along with his Nair militia and servants. En-route many settled in parts of Sringeri, Shimoga etc. However personal discussions and interviews with people who belong to first generation Nairs settled down in Bangalore reveal that they moved to Karnataka in general and Bangalore in particular during pre-independent days.
Birth of Karnataka Nair Service Society.
In the post independent era, Nair immigrants came to Bangalore in search of a better opportunity.
